Do you have an idea of what negative people are? Negative people are those people who are always complaining about everything. They are those who can't see anything enjoyable, pleasant or good in their life. They are always looking for faults in others and in every little thing. You will find negative people sulking over trivial things. In short, negative people don't really know how to appreciate life. It is extremely hard to deal with negative people. Many problems arise when negative people project their negative thoughts onto the people around them. You would be better off not to associate with negative people. However, what if these people are in your family? What if they are your in-laws, siblings or close friends? In this case, you just can't avoid them at all. You aren't going to be able to avoid them, but you can try protecting yourself from being influenced by their negative thoughts. Here are a couple of tips to rescue you: * Build up your resistance against the negative people. You can build a kind of wall by doing things that actually make you feel good. Learn to ignore negative comments. Surround yourself with positive thinking people. Take more care of your health. Use your sense of humor whenever you are dealing with negative people. Always see the positive side of their characters. * Limit your contact with negative people. If it is impossible for you to avoid them, what you can do is limit your contact with them. If the negative people are members of your family or are relatives, you can try to curtail meeting with them. You may want to interact with them in your family only if you have responsibilities towards them or the rest of the family to fulfill. If the negative people are your colleagues, keep your relationship with them only at the workplace. Don't socialize with them too much outside the office. * Try talking to the negative people. If you have co-workers who are extremely negative and always complain about work too much or they are complaining about you, personally address their complaints. Try to understand their problem and tell them your views. * Always be specific. Negative people have the tendency to generalize all their statements. If they often complain about your work, for instance, ask them to try to be more specific. Ask them precise questions so you know exactly what they are talking about. Ask them to pinpoint specific problems. * Learn to let people be like they are. If you have the feeling that you couldn't control all their opinions, let the negative people be like they are. You could use all your persuasion talent only to a specific extent. When a person is so closed minded that he doesn't even want to hear anybody else's opinions, it is best to accept him as he is and let him be. You can use the above tips to shield yourself against the negative people. Don't forget -- you have a choice to remain positive even if the people around you have chosen to be negative and difficult!
